You may be aware that I am a Non-Executive Director of 11:FS. If not, have you not been awake for the past year, and the success the guys are having? Not only have they won some of the biggest digital bank transformation projects in Europe – beating the likes of McKinsey – but also running a very nice podcast series called FinTech Insiders upon which one sometimes appears.
Anyways, the guys had some big news today, so I am pleased to share it here.
11:FS announce the opening of their first US office in New York City, and that Sam Maule is joining the team as Managing Partner for Americas from August 7th.
Yay!
Their press release below:
11:FS is pleased to announce the opening of their first US office in New York City, and that Sam Maule is joining the team as Managing Partner for Americas from August 7th.
At 11:FS we are continuing our drive to become the world’s best challenger to the existing banking suppliers help the large player and surrounding industry to build new banks and propositions customers love. Learning from our efforts and achievements over the last year in Europe, and to assist with growing our reach, we have taken the next step to open an Americas division.
New York City was the natural choice for our base, being the financial heart of North America with access to all the biggest banks and services in the industry. We believe there are huge amounts of players in North America who need the type of services that 11:FS can provide in this space and a US presence will help us connect with them.
In order to help us achieve this, industry heavy hitter Sam Maule has joined the team as Americas Managing Partner. Formerly of NTT Data, and host of FinTech5, Sam is a fantastic addition to the team and will be essential in establishing 11:FS in North America and Canada. With years of experience in banking, Fintech and digital, and named as one of the top 100 most influential Fintech leaders of 2016, Sam is exactly what we need to help 11:FS reach the next level in the Americas.
“Having made a great impact in the first 15 months of 11:FS’ life, we now feel we can have a similar impact with Sam at the helm in North America and Canada, helping organisations really understand what digital transformation within their banks and insurers truly means. People are wasting billions of dollars of investment and we can help them spend less and achieve so much more. With this goal in mind Sam was the only person I felt embodied everything we have done with 11:FS to date - we can't wait to work with him and the US market more strategically.”
David M. Brear - CEO 11:FS
“Over the past few years I’ve become a strong advocate and evangelist concerning the need for industries, especially banking, to examine and reimagine themselves, their culture, their core systems, their business models, their hiring approach, their customer relationships, etc. I’ve come to realize the same is true for me. I needed to examine my own motivations for advocating this needed change and reimagine how I intend to actually execute against this. I came to the realization my personal ratio of talking vs actually driving change was lacking. It was time for a personal reboot.
I’ve been lucky throughout my career to work with and for great people. My time at NTT was no exception to this and I’m grateful for the opportunities the company provided. Now I’m ready for the next opportunity with 11:FS; the excitement, the frustrations, and even the stress of joining a consultancy startup, one that is challenging multiple industries across the globe to examine and reimagine themselves, and maybe even dial it up to “11” when it comes to digital transformation.”
