I didn’t make the opening plenary at SIBOS this year because
I was grabbed for a formal rehearsal of my main session of the day: the future
of money.
I’ll write a little more about that after the session although,
for those considering coming to see it, it will be all about whether core
payments infrastructures are fit for the future (something we’ve just surveyed about
for the Financial Services Club which will be released in a couple of weeks).
This meant that in the free time I had over lunch, I did a
quick whirlwind tour of the incredibly quiet exhibition halls.
Most people were desperately looking for someone.
Anyone.
But there was no-one there.
Mind you, these are American and European booths. Jump across to the Asian booths and it’s
slightly different.
First, there’s a different look and feel to them.
Second, they’re a little bit busier.
Third, it’s Monday lunchtime – it’s always quieter on the
first day pre-plenary. It will change.
Anyways, off to rehearsals …
