Shaping the future of finance

TEDX

I’ve been a fan of TED for some time.

Most of you should be familiar with TED but, just in case you’re not, it’s the world’s largest open sourced educational campus created by Richard Wurman in 1984.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and has gained its reputation as the leading source of inspiration thanks to the quality of speakers and format.

Speakers are given up to 18 minutes to present their ideas in the most innovative and engaging way they can, and most of the presentation are now offered for free to watch online.

There are over 1,000 videos available and, by June 2011, had been watched over 500 million times.  It’s not surprising when you see that past presenters include Bill Clinton, Jane Fonda, Bill Gates, Malcolm McLaren, Jeff Bezos, David Byrne, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and many other eminent artists and Nobel Prize winners.

Why is this worthwhile to talk about on the blog today?

Because we’re a partner in launching the first TEDx Wall Street.

TEDX

TEDx spun out of TED’s global conferences a few years ago to offer the same quality of experience at the local level.

TEDx Wall Street is therefore one of the specialist meetings, being held at the New York Stock Exchange on March 30th 2012, and has a very impressive line-up of speakers already, including:

  • Jim Cramer, Host of CNBC's Mad Money
  • Don Tapscott, Bestselling Author and Strategist
  • Don is one of the world’s leading authorities on in
  • Jeff Stewart, CEO, LENDDO
  • Sergio Fernández de Córdova, Founder of Fuel Outdoor and Member of the Global Entrepreneurs Council at the United Nations
  • Scott Shay, Chairman of the Board, Signature Bank
  • David Blood, Senior Partner, Generation Investment Management
  • James Altucher, Hedge Fund Manager, Author and Blogger

I’ll be there, as will a few hundred other stray souls … should be good.
