Feeling well rested, I arrive at the Toronto convention centre this morning bright eyed and bushy tailed, for the rehearsal for the innotribe.
Innotribe is the main stream I’m involved with this year, as ‘professional troublemaker’.
We’re rehearsing for the opening session here with mates from all over the world, although I notice a predominance of Australians with Brett King and James Gardner as core agent provocateurs of the opening innotribe keynote.
Obviously, innovation is all about turning the world upside down, hence the predominance of Australians.
Before we get into that, the Toronto convention centre proves interesting, as I was entering from the north side.
First is the challenge of how to find a door to get into the place.
Second is how to get past security with the iPad, laptop and Uzi … unfortunately they spotted the iPad and so a full strip search was the order of the day.
Third was how to get my badge as I had no photo ID. Oh no, I’d only brought three credit cards, my business cards, a copy of my mother’s marriage certificate (three months after I appeared on this earth of course) and details of my inside leg measurement and genetic DNA.
Luckily the genetic DNA analysis worked, and so a badge was duly given.
Then it was walking.
Walking.
And walking and walking and walking,.
Up and down escalators, along corridors, through bridges and tunnels and turns, until eventually I appeared with a few hundred other colleagues in the large open hall of the south convention hall of the Toronto convention centre.
No worries and finally made it.
And so the 2011 SIBOS jamboree begins …
