Having a drink with Gerard Hartsink

Next Monday, 27th April, the Financial Services Club will be hosting an evening with Gerard Hartsink, Chairman of the European Payments Council and Senior Vice President with ABN AMRO / Royal Bank of Scotland.

I recently posted Gerard's comments on the European Payments landscape when we met in Hong Kong in March, and he will expand upon these views in more depth over a buffet and wine evening.

The timing is good too as illustrated in this video from our last encounter:

With the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) really taking off this year and the Payment Service Directive (PSD) and SEPA Direct Debits (SDD) due to go live in November, this is a must attend event if you want to know where we are now and where we are going in our Eurozone vision of payments.

In particular, has SEPA really delivered a harmonised payments zone for the euro, or are we as far away as ever from this dream?

No-one knows better than Gerard Hartsink.

If you would like to attend, then please register.

Gerard Hartsink is Senior Executive Vice President of Market Infrastructures of the ABN AMRO Bank and Chairman of the European Payments Council.

During his career he has had managerial roles in sales, product development and operations in several business units within the ABN AMRO Group.

Today he holds responsibility for the relationships ABN AMRO has with the market infrastructures in the payments and cards industry and the forex and securities industry and with public authorities involved.

Gerard Hartsink represents ABN AMRO Bank in the following organisations: EPC, EBA, CLS, LCH.Clearnet, Euroclear MAC, CESAME, ISO 20022 RMG and SWIFT NMG.
