I've been waiting so long to find something in UK banking to blog about in a Web 2.0 world that I thought it would never come ... Compare the Meerkat is about it so far.
But I'll put the Barclaycard Waterslide Competition on YouTube up there as well now.
The competition is based upon their TV advert for contactless which became a bit of a viral hit (if you haven't seen it, then check it out), and so Barclaycard launched a competition to create an amateur version in February.
WIN A WATERSLIDING WORLD TOUR OR £10,000
Create a waterslide. Film it. Submit it.
You don't have to be Danny Boyle. You don't need a big budget. You can make your slide out of anything. Bottles, pipes, boxes, plastic - you just need your imagination!
Enter our waterslide competition at http://www.youtube.com/barclaycardcreate
Here's their promotional video for the competition:
and here's the winner:
They also have the Waterslide Game.
The game gives you 20 seconds to take a puzzle of pipes:
and using mouse clicks to turn them into a waterslide:
No prizes for doing it, but a good synergy with the brand and the message at the end:
There's a whole lot more to this, and it's nice to finally see some creative online finance from one of the core UK financial players rather than some new startup at last.
