In a classic story of police being caught out, they recently rushed to a branch of PNC Bank in Montgomery, New Jersey, USA, to respond to an alarm that had been tripped at the bank branch.
On arrival, they looked through the branch window and spotted the robber inside, loitering with intent.
"This is the police", they shouted. "Come out with your hands up."
The stubborn robber just stood there, staring them out and the situation soon became a full-scale police operation, with SWAT teams and police negotiators trying to get the heathen to give himself up.
But he wouldn't.
He wouldn't answer the phones, talk to the negotiators, respond to any pleading, threats or promises or anything the police could throw at him.
"OK guys", said the lead police negotiator, "we're gonna have to go in ... go, go, go, go, go, go, GO!"
And the SWAT team stormed into the branch, smashing the door down and caught the guy red-handed.
Or rather red-faced.
They had caught the PNC Bank branch's promotional cardboard cutout bank manager.
No wonder he was so stiff-lipped, but don't feel cut up about it ...
